7-day detox diet plan Detoxing – is not only the way to make your eyes and skin look better, it can promote digestion, energy level and lose unwanted weight kilos.

Detox diet seems to be a fad diet which excludes alcohol, grains, sugar and milk; however, it is not a very quick way to weight loss.

The key point of detoxing is to get rid of the matters that poison the body and to cleanse kidneys, liver and bowel, and to improve the performance of the organs.

To track your health fast – try the detox plan, let your body rest at least for a short time – a seven-day program.

What one should do

Check your calendar and point out a week free from feast, birthdays and weddings where occasion meals can occur. Be ready to meet certain reaction during the first days of detoxing: lack of bowel movements and headaches. Organs are stimulated at this period getting a sudden freedom from customary foods.

The symptoms may last for 24 – 48 hours.

Avoid the following food

  • Cigarettes
  • Alcohol
  • Dairy products (? cup unsweetened yoghurt allowed each day)
  • Sugar, maple syrup, sweeteners, honey
  • Grains: wheat (bread, biscuits, cakes, pasta), barley, rye, oats, rice and spelt  
  • Dried fruit
  • Coffee

Vegetables: any fresh vegetables
Lean red meat, chicken (skin free). Limit to two servings per week.
Fish: fresh, canned in olive oil or water
Legumes: kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas, canned or dried
Eggs: preferably organic
Olive oil (better extra virgin), Coconut oil (unprocessed)
Nuts: walnuts, raw unsalted almonds, cashews and macadamias
Green tea, weak black tea (decaffeinated), white tea,
Seeds: sunflower and pumpkin seeds, raw unsalted sesame
Water: from 1 to 3 litres of water per day

Seven days Detox plan

  1. Lemon juice in the morning: This juice promotes digestion and also cleans the body. Take half a lemon and squeeze the juice in a cup with hot water. Take it first before breakfast.
  2. Exercise: Do exercises for an hour each day of detox diet. Exercises should not be easy, the should provoke sweat. Walk uphill, go in for yoga, try boxing. Lymph flow will increase during exercises and toxins will come out with sweat.
  3. Raw meals: Forget about cooking. Take in mainly raw products. There are more enzymes and nutrients in raw foods. Fresh sprouts are also good to be added in salads daily.
  4. Detox your mind: During body detoxing do not forget about your mind cleaning. Spend 15 minutes for meditation each day. For those who do not know how to meditate belly breathing can do. Place hands palms down on the part of your lower belly. Breathe in through the nose, count slowly to three or four counts. With each breath feel how your tummy rises. Breathe out slowly and allow the belly to drop. Repeat the procedure 15 minutes every day.
  5. Drink: A daily norm is 3 litres of fluid to be taken in. Fluid will promote lymph movement and detoxification of kidneys. You may use any drinks like herbal teas, fresh juices of vegetables or just spring water. And you can make own brews combining Dandelion root with calendula, nettle, burdock, cleavers and red clover. Take a cup of boiling water and add a tea spoon of dried herbs in it. Leave for 5 minutes steeping, then strain and drink.
  6. Brush the body: Do it every day. This will support circulation and lead to detoxification of skin. Means for brushing can be loofah or fiber body brush (natural). Do circular strokes brushing your skin before stepping into the shower. Begin with feet and hands, then move up the legs, brush along the arms. Avoid touching delicate areas (face, throat, sore spots). Take the shower then. At the end of shower taking try cold water only for a minute which will promote blood circulation.
  7. Chew: Get mouth full of food and chew it thoroughly 10-12 times before you swallow it. Doing so your mind will feel full of food and you will escape overeating.

Contraindications: the diet is not indicated at pregnancy, at breastfeeding, at high blood pressure and underweight. Consult a practitioner before starting the diet.
